Equipment

  • Oven
  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Baking sheet
  • Meat thermometer optional
  • Mixing bowls
  • Tongs
  • Meat mallet or rolling pin for pounding chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness (about 1/2 inch) for uniform cooking.
Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
In a shallow bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese and seasoned breadcrumbs.
Coat each chicken breast thoroughly with the Parmesan and breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
Transfer the seared chicken breasts to a baking sheet.
Spread about 2 tablespoons of ranch dressing evenly over each chicken breast.
Sprinkle shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese generously on top of the ranch layer.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, broil the chicken for 2-3 minutes at the end of baking, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure perfect doneness without overcooking.
  • Substitute ranch dressing with a homemade version for a fresher taste.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best texture.
